Data Description
GOES-R Series ABI Products GRABIPRD (partially restricted L1b and L2+ Data Products) -
The Advanced Baseline Imager (ABI) is the primary instrument in the GOES-R Series for imaging Earth's weather, oceans, and environment. The ABI views the Earth with 16 different spectral bands compared to five on the previous generation GOES imagers. The ABI includes two visible channels, four near-infrared channels, and ten infrared channels, providing three times more spectral information, four times greater spatial resolution, and more than five times temporal coverage. This ABI data family includes the Level 1b Radiance data, Level 2 Cloud/Moisture Imagery, and several other Level 2 derived products. Product details (Readme's, maturity status) can be found at https://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/data-access/satellite-data/goes-r-series-satellites. The archived products are distributed in the netCDF-4 file format with metadata attributes included. Further information and details can be found in the "Details - Metadata, Documentation" section below. Individual product (Datatype) description, documentation, and possible bulk access options are available under the "Product Details" link.

Notes
03/12/2025 - The GOES-R Peer/Stakeholder Product Validation Review (PS-PVR) Panel declared the multiple GOES-19 ABI L2+ products at Provisional Maturity. For details of the products that have reached Beta Maturity and Provisional Maturity, please refer to the ReadMe file links from NOAASIS below. With this declaration, CLASS is given direction to release these products back to Beta Maturity. For details of the GOES-19 ABI L2+ Cloud Top Height Beta Maturity and Provisional Maturity, please refer to the ReadMe file links from NOAASIS below.
ReadMe files that explain appropriate usage and caveats for the data are available from the NOAASIS GOES Peer/Stakeholder Product Validation Reviews. Specific ReadMe files for the various satellite platforms are available under the Product Quality section. These include beta, provisional, and full validation data quality.
1/6/2025 - The GOES-19 ABI L1b radiance data and the ABI L2 Cloud & Moisture Imagery (CMI) products have been declared Provisional Validation maturity on December 20, 2024.
Please note that CLASS does not support geographic subsetting for this group of datatypes. Using the spatial search tool will find files which include part or all of the area within the user defined area; however, the full extent of the original data will be delivered.
