(01/15/08) MHS Data

MHS is no longer listed separately under the main product listing in CLASS. It is logically grouped under the TOVS data family found at the bottom of the drop down menu. Please select TOVS to get to the MHS data product. MHS replaced the AMSU-B instrument on NOAA-18. For more details on MHS, please see the User's Guide.

(09/04/07) MIRS Operational Data:

CLASS began ingesting MIRS operational data, which began transmission on 8/30/2007 1600 UTC for NOAA-18 and MetOp-A.

Operational products are made available from the Microwave Integrated Retrieval System (MIRS), which has been designed and developed to provide the enhanced/new microwave surface and precipitation products to satisfy user's requirements on quality and timeliness.

More details on the MIRS, its algorithms and ongoing research can be found at

Except for the GOES-SST CoastWatch regionals (discontinued on 2007-01-24), the old GOES-SST products are still being created, but the file names are different. The data types to search the old and new products are still the same. You can check the new file naming conventions here.

(03/28/07) Delivery File Naming Convention

Starting with CLASS release 4.2 in late April 2007, CLASS will change its delivery file naming convention. Significant changes are:

·        The historical ORL – Order Line Item (A1234567.L1234567) file naming convention will be discontinued.

·        CLASS will support two delivery file naming conventions

o       DS.EXT  -> Original file name plus extension, if applicable.

o       L.DS.EXT -> Line Item number plus original file name plus extension, if applicable.

·        An online user that does not have a private account will have all his orders delivered with the DS.EXT file naming convention (most users fall into this category).

·        An online user that has a private account will have all his orders delivered with the L.DS.EXT file naming convention.

·        A subscriber will have all his orders delivered with the L.DS.EXT file naming convention.

This change was triggered by numerous requests. We hope that it will ease your interface with CLASS when ordering and retrieving your data. As always please let us know how we can improve our service.
